Home of Albayano Artisans

Type AB is a commercial organization which aims to provide livelihood projects to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps beneficiaries through abaca (Manila hemp) products.
It offers varieties of abaca products crafted by the bare hands of Albayano artisans exclusively the 4Ps members which were highly trained and skilful in the abaca crafts.
On its celebration for its 5-year anniversary, Type AB extends to the community as it offers wider range of financial assistance and marketing strategy to its stakeholders.
It is a partnered-agency of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for promoting the products made by the 4Ps beneficiary locally and internationally.

4Ps

Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is a human development measure of the national government that provides conditional cash grants to the poorest of the poor, to improve the health, nutrition, and the education of children aged 0-18. The Department of Social Welfare and Development is the lead government agency of the 4Ps.

The 4Ps as adapted from the CCT Programs in Latin America is a poverty reduction strategy that provides cash grants to extremely poor households to allow the members of the families to meet certain human development goals.

Why Abaca?

Mostly of the 4Ps beneficiaries in the rural area has engaged themselves in abaca handicrafts for a long time. This has been the motivating reason why Type AB has chosen the abaca crafts to be the livelihood project for the 4Ps families.

Despite from the cash assistance given by the Philippine government there are still family beneficiaries who are still unemployed and having a cash shortage to sustain their living thus, Type AB developed a business which aims to assist through giving them livelihood and provide managerial and entrepreneurial skills. Since abaca products have higher demand in the international market this will become an avenue to realize the goals of the organization. Moreover this program also, is an act of restoring the title of Albay as the “Center of Trade for Abaca “.
